Bermondsey Carpet Cleaning Modern Slavery Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Bermondsey Carpet Cleaning in respect of the financial year ending 31 December 2026. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our own operations and throughout our supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a fundamental violation of human rights, and we are committed to conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner.

Modern slavery includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, debt bondage and human trafficking. Bermondsey Carpet Cleaning acknowledges that these abuses can occur in any sector and country, including within the United Kingdom, and we are determined to ensure that they have no place in our organisation or in the organisations with which we do business.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Bermondsey Carpet Cleaning provides professional carpet and upholstery cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our operations are primarily based in the United Kingdom, and our workforce consists of employed staff and trusted contractors. Our supply chains include providers of cleaning products and equipment, uniforms, transport, facilities services and professional support services.

We understand that some of our suppliers may source materials or labour from higher risk regions or sectors. As a result, we are committed to identifying, assessing and managing the risk of modern slavery within these supply chains and to working with suppliers who share our values and standards.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

Bermondsey Carpet Cleaning operates a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with, or continue to work with, any individual or organisation involved in such practices. Our expectations are communicated through our internal policies and supplier requirements, which set out the behaviours and standards we require.

All employees, contractors and suppliers are expected to act with integrity, uphold human rights and comply with relevant legislation. Any breach of our zero-tolerance policy will be treated as a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts or reporting to the appropriate authorities.

Supplier Due Diligence and Audits

We are developing and strengthening our due diligence processes to assess the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains. This includes requiring key suppliers to confirm that they have appropriate policies and procedures in place, and that they comply with all applicable labour and human rights laws. We seek to work collaboratively with suppliers to promote ethical practices and continuous improvement.

Where we identify higher risk suppliers or regions, we may conduct more detailed assessments, including document reviews, site visits or third-party audits where appropriate and proportionate. If concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to agree corrective actions and timeframes. Persistent failure to address issues may lead to the suspension or termination of the business relationship.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

Bermondsey Carpet Cleaning encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers and business partners to report any concerns about modern slavery or unethical behaviour as soon as they arise. Concerns can be raised with line managers, senior management or through existing internal reporting routes. Reports can be made confidentially, and we are committed to treating all concerns seriously and sensitively.

We will protect anyone who raises a concern in good faith from retaliation or detrimental treatment. Allegations will be investigated promptly and, where appropriate, referred to law enforcement or other relevant authorities. We will take remedial action where necessary, including supporting any affected individuals and reviewing our processes to reduce the risk of similar issues occurring in the future.

Training, Awareness and Responsibility

Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management team of Bermondsey Carpet Cleaning. Managers are expected to lead by example and ensure that the principles set out in this statement are embedded in day-to-day operations. Relevant staff receive guidance on recognising the signs of modern slavery and on how to respond to potential concerns.

We aim to build awareness across our organisation by incorporating modern slavery and ethical sourcing into our induction materials and periodic updates. This helps to ensure that everyone understands their role in preventing exploitation and promoting respect for human rights.

Monitoring, Annual Review and Continuous Improvement

Bermondsey Carpet Cleaning is committed to continually improving our approach to tackling modern slavery. We will monitor the effectiveness of the measures described in this statement by reviewing reports, supplier performance and any incidents or concerns raised during the year. Learnings from these reviews will inform updates to our policies, procedures and training.

This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed, updated and approved by senior management on an annual basis to reflect changes in legislation, industry best practice and our own business activities. By maintaining this ongoing review process, we aim to strengthen our controls, enhance transparency and contribute to the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.
